It may also be relevant here to note that history is a 
narrative at the very least partially dependant on the 
cultural context/ideology of the time it is being 
articulated.

It seems to me that Paul's art historical lineage is very 
much an artist's/practitioner's lineage...and no less 
important for being that I should add.  Indeed it is a 
reading/interpretation of art history  no less important for 
the understanding of Paul's work as his involvment with 
science/a-life.
